Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 April 2026

This Privacy Policy for TrekT ("we", "us", or "our") describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share your personal information when you use our services, including when you download and use our mobile application (TrekT).

Questions or concerns? Contact us at hellotrekt@proton.me

1. What information do we collect?

TrekT is designed to be privacy-first. We do not require an account, and we do not collect personal information about you by default.

Information you provide voluntarily. If you contact us for support, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message.

Payment data. All payment data is handled and stored by Apple. You may find their privacy notice at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/en-ww/

Application data. All data you enter in TrekT (countries visited, trips, expenses, photos, memories, emergency contact information) is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to our servers. If you use the photo features, we will request access to your mobile device's photo library so you can add photos to your travel memories.

Google API. Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2. AI Country Summaries feature

TrekT offers an optional AI-powered feature called Country Summaries which gives you travel information about a destination (things like best months to visit, typical costs, safety notes).

What is sent. When you choose to use this feature, the app sends the country name you selected and your preferred display currency to our backend server. Your backend then forwards this to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the summary.

What is not sent. No personal information, no device identifiers, no location data, no trip data, no expense data, no photos, and no account information is sent. Because TrekT has no user accounts, the request cannot be tied back to you.

Anthropic. Anthropic processes the request to generate the response. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Anthropic does not train its models on API inputs or outputs.

Retention. We do not log, store, or retain Country Summaries requests or responses on our backend.

Opt out. The feature is optional. If you do not use it, no data is sent. You can also disable it in the app's Settings.

3. Crash reporting (Sentry)

To fix bugs and improve app stability, TrekT uses Sentry to send us anonymous crash reports when the app crashes. This is configured in a privacy-safe way:

Sentry's privacy policy is available at https://sentry.io/privacy/.

Opt out. You can disable crash reporting in the app's Settings at any time.

4. How do we process your information?

We process information to provide and improve our services, communicate with you for support purposes, fix bugs via anonymous crash reports, and to comply with the law. All travel data you enter in TrekT is stored locally on your device and is not collected or accessed by us.

5. When and with whom do we share your personal information?

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following situations:

6. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

We do not use cookies or tracking technologies in the TrekT mobile application.

7. How long do we keep your information?

All data you enter in TrekT is stored locally on your device. We do not store your personal data on our servers. AI Country Summaries requests are not retained. Sentry crash diagnostics are retained by Sentry for 90 days in line with Sentry's default retention policy. If you contact us by email, we will retain that correspondence for as long as necessary to resolve your query.

8. How do we keep your information safe?

We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

9. Do we collect information from minors?

We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age. By using TrekT, you represent that you are at least 18 years old. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under 18, please contact us at hellotrekt@proton.me.

10. What are your privacy rights?

Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. To exercise these rights, please contact us at hellotrekt@proton.me.

If you are located in the EEA or UK and believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11. Do we make updates to this policy?

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
